9/2/2023 0 Comments Downy feathers![]() ![]() Of course, the best way to avoid animal cruelty is to do without animal products altogether. When buying down jackets or pillows you should always check very carefully where the down comes from. ![]() Unsurprisingly, birds show signs of fear and distress after being plucked. Wounds are then stitched without using anything to dull or numb the pain. ![]() Sadly, parent geese can be plucked up to 16 times during their lifetime.ĭue to the painful plucking, the animals are often injured, with open wounds occurring whilst broken wings are often a consequence of rough handling. Parent animals are at high risk of live-plucking because they are kept for 4 to 5 years and can be subject to live-plucking more frequently than animals kept for meat. The term 'parent animals' refers to animals used solely for the production of offspring, which are then used in the meat industry. Down from repeatedly plucked 'parent animals' in particular is very popular and typically used for premium products. The animals (predominately geese) suffer dreadfully while their feathers and down are torn out, as workers pluck the animals to produce the most expensive and high quality down. The aim of live-plucking is to gain the maximum amount of feathers and down from the live animal. In addition, companies will claim they do not accept down from live-plucked or force-fed animals, yet evidence to back these claims is often missing. Producers and suppliers of down will say that it is a natural material sourced from geese and ducks after they are slaughtered for meat production, therefore the down and feathers are simply valuable by-products of the duck and goose meat industry. Their lightness and heat trapping ability is what makes down a desirable material to use in products such as coats, bedding (duvets, comforters, and blankets), pillows, and sleeping bags. Down feathers help insulate against heat loss and add buoyancy in the water for aquatic birds like geese and ducks. The term down refers to the soft layer of fine, small feathers closest to a bird’s body. While geese and ducks are raised for their meat, two of the most intense levels of suffering they are subjected to during their lives include the cruel practices of live feather plucking for their down and force-feeding for foie gras. More than 600 million geese and up to 3 billion ducks are raised and slaughtered globally on industrial farms each year. There is a dark side to this fluffy textile, with millions of bird enduring horrific suffering for their feathers. Down is a common filling material used in fashion and textiles worldwide, and is especially used by fashion brands who cater for winter or outdoor apparel. ![]()

It is most commonly found in patients with myopia And while this condition does not follow a definitive inheritance pattern, it frequently clusters within families. ![]() There does not appear to be a correlation in incidence by gender or race. Lattice degeneration occurs in 8% to 10% of the general population and its cause is not fully understood. In general, no imaging tests are necessary to diagnose this disease, although some providers may obtain wide-angle photographs of your retinas to assist in monitoring your condition. Depending on the nature of your findings, the doctor may also examine your retina while exerting a slight amount of pressure around your eye (scleral depression). The eye care specialist will then use a headlight and a special lens to perform the exam. Dilating drops will cause your vision to be blurry for several hours before returning to normal. A dilated fundus examination is done by administering dilating eye drops in your eyes to expand the pupil so that the retina can be carefully evaluated. Lattice degeneration itself does not cause symptoms, so the only way to diagnose the condition is with a dilated fundus examination by an eye care provider. © 2018, American Society of Retina Specialists. ![]() Hamid Ahmadieh, MD, Labbafinejad Medical Center. 9/2/2023 0 Comments Hunting crossbow![]() ![]() ![]() Fastest Crossbow Reviews Fastest Crossbow On The Market: TenPoint Nitro 505 Crossbow The latest technology is always going to cost more to utilize, but if you can afford it, it will be well worth it. You aren't going to find these crossbows under $500. In case you haven’t noticed, these crossbows are expensive. Owning one of these crossbows requires you to be very diligent in the use and maintenance of your crossbow to ensure your safety and the life of the crossbow. Strings break, limbs shatter, cams and pulleys fail.Įven scopes can move and have to be sighted in again. It stands to reason that when you are storing and releasing huge amounts of energy, there is going to be wear and tear as well as incidents of component failure. These crossbows are not intended for beginners and should only be used by hunters with crossbow experience. When shooting at speeds approaching and exceeding 500 FPS, there is very little margin for error, and any inconsistencies in your aim or your shooting form will be amplified by the speed.Īlso, the faster you shoot a bolt with a broadhead, the more the broadhead may plane, by catching the air and moving to one side or the other.Įven mechanical broadheads should be specifically rated for the fastest crossbows, so that they don’t accidentally open from the force of being fired by the string. That being said, most of these crossbows are incredibly quiet given the amount of energy they create. It makes sense that the more energy you are storing and applying to your crossbow bolt, the more vibration and noise you are going to create. What Are The Disadvantages Of Using The Fastest Crossbow Noise If you want the best of the best, go out and get it. There are many hunters that chase speed to the Nth degree and there is nothing wrong with that. It doesn’t matter if we are talking about a Lamborghini or the fastest crossbow, you will be the coolest kid on the block or in deer camp. Click here for an explanation of the different types of crossbows. Reverse draw crossbows are just one type of crossbow. The weight is much more evenly distributed, as opposed to a regular crossbow that is very front heavy. Reverse draw technology provides a much longer powerstroke than standard crossbows, which allows the bolt to be in contact with the string over a much longer length, allowing the string much longer to accelerate the bolt.Īnother advantage of using reverse draw technology is that it produces a much more balanced crossbow. ![]() The one thing that all of the fastest crossbows, except the Excalibur, have in common is that they utilize reverse draw technology. You must use a bolt that is heavy enough to deliver the kinetic energy and not just speed.Ī lighter bolt may be faster, but it will have less kinetic energy than a heavier bolt.īe sure to use the right bolt for your crossbow in order to generate the kinetic energy needed for the game you hunt. The right amount is required for ample penetration and killing power on big game animals. Kinetic energy is the amount of energy carried by the bolt in motion and delivered into the target. When you maintain an effective range of 40 yards or less when deer hunting, there is less chance of this happening with the fastest crossbows, but if you increase the range beyond 40 yards, you will still have a problem. It is when a whitetail moves between the time the bolt leaves the crossbow and when it arrives at the target. “Jumping the string” is a real thing when bow hunting whitetail deer, and most bowhunters have experienced it. Less Chance Of Big Game “Jumping The String” The effective range for killing a deer quickly and cleanly is only slightly increased, with shot placement still being the key ingredient to success.Įven with the fastest crossbows, a high strung whitetail deer can move between the time you pull the trigger and the time the bolt arrives at the target, when shooting at extreme ranges. This means that you can accurately shoot further, but it does not necessarily mean you can shoot deer and other game animals from farther away. Longer RangeĪ fast crossbow will have a longer range because of the flatter trajectory. If you add a crossbow scope with built in rangefinder, it is just like shooting a rifle. No more worrying about the yardage and which aimpoint to use. We have found that on the fastest crossbows, we can use one aimpoint all the way out to 30 yards when hunting deer and other big game. The faster the bolt is flying, the longer it takes to drop. What Are The Advantages Of Using The Fastest Crossbow Flatter TrajectoryĪ flatter trajectory makes for a more accurate crossbow. ![]() 9/2/2023 0 Comments Football outline![]()
